ClearVR to Enable Spectacular 16K VR on Oculus Quest 2

16 Oct – ClearVR to Enable Spectacular 16K VR on Oculus Quest 2

The new Oculus Quest 2 arrived at our headquarters earlier this week. We can confirm that it’s a very nice device, making the VR experience even more attractive. The ecosystem is definitely maturing.

Even more than the first generation Quest and the Go, the new Quest 2 will benefit from going to 8K video resolution and even higher. This is where ClearVR can help: it allows 8K video to be streamed at realistic bitrates.

But why stop at 8K? The new generation devices have 8K decoders on board and using ClearVR, this enables going to 11K per eye for stereoscopic content and even 16K monoscopic video.

Needless to say that Tiledmedia’s developers love the devices, and we’ve already started to port the ClearVR SDK.

We hope that many award-winning ClearVR-enabled applications will be created for the Quest 2!
